A 55-year-old Cobourg woman is facing charges after emergency services responded to a false fire alarm Wednesday afternoon.
On Wednesday, November 22, 2023, at approximately 4:00 p.m., Cobourg Police Service dispatch received several 911 calls from an intoxicated individual who was threatening to pull the fire alarm at a residential building on King Street East in Cobourg.
While police were en route to the address, the fire alarm was pulled, activating a response from Cobourg Fire and Northumberland Paramedic Services. Police, Fire, and EMS services arrived on scene. It was determined there was no fire, and the alarm had been falsely pulled.
As a result of the police investigation, a 55-year-old Cobourg woman was arrested and charged with causing a false fire alarm, being intoxicated in a public place, and resisting arrest.
The accused was released on an undertaking with a future court date.
