Cobourg Police – Elderly Man Facing Assault and Mischief Charges (No Name Released)

A 72-year-old Cobourg man is facing assault and mischief charges after police responded to a disturbance this morning.

On Friday, November 17, 2023, at approximately 10:00 a.m., police responded to a disturbance at a business near Division Street and Spencer Street.

Police were advised that a man was bothering customers, demanding cash and stopping them from entering the store. When asked to leave by staff, the man threatened to assault the employee.

As a result of the investigation, a 72-year-old Cobourg man was arrested and charged with mischief and assault.

The accused was held for a bail hearing.
