Members of the Peterborough County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a single motor vehicle into a ditch on Selwyn Bay Road after a call was received at approximately 9:35am on October 28, 2023. A passerby stopped to assist the motorist but after finding what they believed to be an impaired driver, called the OPP. An OPP officer attended and after speaking with the driver, determined them to be under the influence of alcohol. The driver was also found to not have a driver’s licence and was operating a vehicle without the permission of the registered owner.

Brian PEDDLE (age 38) of Peterborough, was arrested and charged with:

·      Operation while impaired-alcohol

·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

·      Take Motor Vehicle Without Consent

·      Drive Motor Vehicle – no licence

The vehicle was later returned to the rightful owner.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough on November 28, 2023.
