Update – Cause of Log Home Fire in Municipality of Port Hope Listed as Undetermined

The cause of a fire that destroyed a log house in the Municipality of Port Hope will be listed as undetermined.

Municipality of Port Hope Fire and Rescue were dispatched shortly before 10 p.m. on Sunday, October 1, 2023 to the address on Woodvale School Road west of Bewdley.

The occupant of the home reported there was a fire in the shed, but it quickly spread to the house.

When fire crews arrived the log home was consumed by fire.

Deputy Fire Chief Adam McCurdy said the Office of the Fire Marshal was contacted, but did not attend and the cause will be listed as “undetermined.”

“The fire started within the shed area and spread very quickly to the home.  the home was fully engulfed when firefighters arrived.”

There were no injuries and damage is listed at $750,000.
