Cobourg Police – Man Charged with Robbery, Uttering Threats and Assault Peace Officer (Name Released)

Today’s Northumberland has learned that a father who was dropping off his daughter for choir was assaulted in the parking lot of Trinity United Church on Division Street, near Chapel Street on Thursday, September 28, 2023.

Cobourg Police issued a release stating a 35-year-old Cobourg man is facing robbery charges after police responded to an “incident” Thursday afternoon.

On Thursday, September 28, 2023, at approximately 4:45 p.m., police responded to a report of an assault in a parking lot in the area of Division Street and Chapel Street in Cobourg.

Police investigation revealed that a man asked the victim to hand over his money, uttered threats, and then punched them in the face. The victim received minor injuries. No weapons were involved.

The suspect was located and arrested a short distance away. As a result of the investigation, 35-year-old

Daniel Tyler Foden of Cobourg was charged with robbery with violence, uttering threats to cause death and assault a peace officer.

The accused was held in custody pending a Show Cause Hearing.
