In Editor Choice, Local, Police Blotter

A transport trailer was destroyed by fire early Tuesday morning east of Colborne.

On Tuesday, September 26, 2023 at approximately 12:40 a.m. Cramahe Township Fire Department responded to reports of a fully engulfed tractor trailer in the eastbound lanes of Highway 401, east of Colborne.

Alnwick/Haldimand Township Fire Department had previously responded to the same call, but when the actual location was determined to be east of Colborne, Cramahe Township Fire Department was dispatched.

When crews arrived on scene, the trailer, which was carrying food products was engulfed in flames on the shoulder of the highway.

The driver had separated the cab from the trailer.

The trailer was a total loss and one lane of the highway remained open.
