Fire Causes Major Damage to Port Hope Home

There were no injuries after a fire caused major damage to a house in Port Hope on Sunday, September 10, 2023.

At approximately 9 p.m. Port Hope Fire and Emergency Services were dispatched to a house fire at the corner of Catherine Street and Elizabeth Street.

When fire crews arrived flames were coming from the front, upper portion of the two-storey home.

No one was home at the time of the fire and due to an aggressive interior attack the fire was confined to the second floor and roof area of the home.

Caused is suspected as accidental and the estimate of damage is approximately $400,000 to $500,000.
