Tent Removed from Municipal Property in Cobourg

In Editor Choice, Local

Tent was removed in municipal property in Victoria Park by Town of Cobourg staff on Wednesday, August 9, 2023.

The tent had been at the east end of Victoria Park for several days and on August 6, 2023 Municipal by-law placed a “Notice to Vacate” on the tent stating it could be removed on Tuesday, August 8, 2023 at 4 p.m.

Town of Cobourg Works Department staff accompanied by a by-law officer arrived at the encampment shortly after 2 p.m. on Wednesday and removed the tent.

The tent will be kept for a period of two-weeks if the owner would like to reclaim it.

Another encampment has been located on the west beach, by the west pier for several days.

It’s unknown if the tents will be removed or if there has been given a Notice to Vacate.

Today’s Northumberland will provide updates when they become available.
