One tent is at the east end of Victoria Park and three others were noticed just to the west of the west pier along the beach on Monday, August 7, 2023.

A Notice to Vacate was on the green tent tucked behind some trees and growth.

The Notice to Vacate was posted on August 6, 2023 and said, “this encampment is located on Municipal Property and must be vacated and have all items removed by:

Tuesday August 8th. 2023 at 4pm

All items remaining will be collected by Town staff and held for a period of two (2) weeks. To reclaim removed items please contact Town of Cobourg, Bylaw Enforcement and Licensing at 905-372-4301 ext. 4302 or attend in person at Town Hall. If the items are not claimed following this time period, the items will be disposed of.

Please remove all personal belongings from this location before the above-mentioned date. Failure to vacate this property may result in charges under the Ontario Trespass to Property Act R.S.O 1990.”

Three police cruisers were at the encampment on the west side of the west pier shortly after 4 p.m.
