Father-Daughter Disco Ball was a Sold-Out Smash

Organizers of the Northumberland Father-Daughter Disco Ball 2023 are pleased to report that the event raised $24,500 in support of the Northumberland Hills Hospital Maternal Child Care program.

On July 7, fathers (and father figures) flocked to the Best Western Plus Cobourg Inn and Convention Centre to attend with their daughters aged four to 10 – so many of them embracing the disco theme with sequins, bell bottoms and special matching outfits.

Proceeds raised through ticket sales, sponsorships, a silent auction, raffle and other initiatives have directly helped fund the purchase of medical equipment at NHH.

The Northumberland Father-Daughter Ball has been a third-party planned initiative in support of the Northumberland Hills Hospital Foundation since 2015. Proceeds raised through ticket sales, sponsorships, a silent auction, raffle and other initiatives have directly helped fund the purchase of medical equipment at NHH and, in previous years, this has included birthing beds, a fetal monitor and a neonatal warmer.

This is the second year that Katie Traugott, Jenna Traugott and Reese Prescott took the lead in planning and hosting.

The trio’s enthusiasm earned the praise of Foundation Chair of Signature and Third Party Events Laura McCracken Ebbrell.

“This volunteer team’s drive to craft an extraordinary evening for 238 guests and raise important funds to support NHH’s Maternal Child Care program is truly impressive,” Ebbrell stated in the press release.

“We extend our heartfelt gratitude to them and to all those who supported our hospital through this year’s Disco Ball.”

Traugott, Traugott and Prescott extended their own deep gratitude to a public-spirited community that produced a wonderful list of sponsors – Cameco, LiUNA Local 183, Family Dental Centre and Spoolon Manufacturing Limited – as well as many local businesses that donated generously, and to the supportive community that made it a sold-out event within 20 hours of tickets going on sale.

They have already begun planning the 2024 ball, and will be announcing the theme this winter. Tickets go on sale in November.
