Update – Cobourg Stabbing Victim Released From Hospital As Investigation Continues

Police have concluded their on-site investigation after a man was stabbed early Monday morning in Cobourg.

On Monday, July 24, 2023 at around 6 a.m. police were called to the area of Major Street in Cobourg’s east end for a person who was stabbed.

The 39-year-old walked to an address on Division Street where he was treated by paramedics and transported to hospital with a stab wound to the back.

Forty-three-year-old Brad Johnson from Cobourg was arrested at the Major Street house and was later charged with aggravated assault, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and four courts of utter threats to cause death or bodily harm.

He was remanded in custody with a scheduled court date of Tuesday, July 25, 2023.

Police said the victim was transported to hospital with “serious” injuries, but was later released from hospital.

OPP Forensic Identification Officers examined the scene on Division Street and spent hours at the Major Street location documenting evidence.

OPP wrapped up their investigation on Major Street shortly after 9 p.m. when the crime tape was taken down.
