Cobourg Police – Toronto Man Charged with Theft Over $5,000 and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime (Name Released)

A 34-year-old Toronto man faces charges after police respond to a theft in progress on Tuesday night.

On Tuesday, July 11, 2023, at 8:00 p.m., police responded to a theft report at a business on Strathy Road in Cobourg.

Staff informed police a man selected several items, concealed them, and exited the store, making no attempt to pay for the merchandise. Police located a man matching the description provided outside the store with the stolen merchandise.

As a result of the police investigation, Laurentiu Postelnicu-Iulian (34) of Toronto was arrested and charged with theft over $5,000 and possession of property obtained by crime Over $5,000.

The accused was released to a future court date
