Victim Dies Following “Incident” at Warkworth Institution

An individual seriously injured in an incident at the Warkworth Institution has since succumbed to their injuries.

On May 28, 2023, shortly after 7:00 p.m., the Northumberland OPP received information regarding an incident that took place at the Warkworth Institution located in Trent Hills which left an individual with serious injuries.

On June 23, 2023, the individual succumbed to their injuries and was pronounced deceased.

The Northumberland OPP Crime Unit and Central Region Forensic Identification Services (FIS) are continuing the investigation under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch, in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner (OCC) for Ontario.

Police are asking the public’s assistance in this investigation. Any person with information regarding this incident should immediately contact the Northumberland OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
