Northumberland United Way “Day of Caring” a Success Thanks to Volunteers

In Community, Local

On Friday, June 2, 2023, more than 100 enthusiastic volunteers generously gave their time and skills at 30 sites across Cobourg, Port Hope, and Colborne, providing much-needed support to individuals and organizations facing challenges for the 24th annual Northumberland United Way Day of Caring.

The success of the Day of Caring is largely thanks to the generous support of our Partners in Caring. Northumberland United Way thanks the “invaluable contributions” from Cameco Corporation, CpK Interior Products, SABIC, Lakefront Utilities, Arclin Surfaces, Town of Cobourg, Stalwood Homes, AkzoNobel, and Home Building Centre for making the event possible.

A special thank you goes to The Lions Club of Cobourg for generously donating the use of their hall and providing a warm breakfast to all volunteers. Starbucks in Cobourg also made a kind contribution by donating coffee to keep our volunteers energized throughout the day.

Day of Caring was created in response to a need in the community. United Way recognized that sometimes repairs are not completed due to health, financial, and personal restrictions or that help may be needed through volunteer labour or donated supplies to make one’s living situation more safe and comfortable. These are the kinds of projects for which Day of Caring was designed, and each year, local companies and individuals come together to volunteer their time and talents to help these groups.
