Cobourg Police – Port Hope Man Charged with Mischief, Obstruct Peace Officer (No Name Released)

A 43-year-old Port Hope man was charged with mischief after an incident Monday morning.

On Monday, May 29, 2023, police responded to a mischief report. Police were advised that at 5:40 a.m., video footage showed an unknown male throwing a rock at the back door of a property on Albert Street, smashing the glass.

As a result of the investigation, police located an individual matching the description provided, which led to the identification and subsequent arrest of a 43-year-old Port Hope man. The man attempted to run from the police and resisted arrest. The man was charged with the following offences:

1. Mischief Under $5,000 Section 430(4) of the Criminal Code

2. Obstruct Peace Officer Section 129(a) of the Criminal Code

The accused was released on an undertaking with conditions and a future court date.
