Sparks from Train No Cause for Alarm

In Local, News

Cobourg Fire Department was dispatched to a possible train fire on Tuesday, May 9, 2023 in Cobourg’s east end.

Firefighters were dispatched shortly after 11 p.m. to the possible train fire at Normar Road and County Road 2.

Firefighters spoke with rail officials who stated a specialized train heading east was grinding tracks creating large amounts of sparks underneath the train which could look like a possible train fire.

Cobourg fire officials notified other fire departments to the east the train was headed their way so they don’t get similar calls.
