Update – Durham Regional Police – Male Charged in Historical Sexual Assault Investigation

An additional seven charges have been laid against James CHATTERPAUL after four new victims came forward.

 

In January 2023 members of Central West Criminal Investigation Bureau commenced an investigation into James CHATTERPAUL, the owner of Chatterpaul’s restaurant located at 3500 Brock Street North in Whitby. A victim had come forward with allegations of a sexual nature, that CHATTERPAUL had touched the victim inappropriately in the workplace. CHATTERPAUL was charged with Sexual Assault.

 

An additional four victims have come forward with allegations of a sexual nature against CHATTERPAUL, dating between 2005 to 2019. CHATTERPAUL often goes by the name “Chef Chad” or “Chad”, and was previously employed at an Oshawa restaurant.

 

James CHATTERPAUL, age 55, of Whitby is charged with Sexual Assault x7. He was released on an Undertaking.

 

Investigators want to ensure there are no further victims.

Male Charged in Historical Sexual Assault Investigation in Whitby

 

A 55-year-old male has been charged with sexual assault involving one of his employees in Whitby.  

 

In January 2023, a 32-year-old victim came forward with allegations of a sexual nature against the suspect. It is alleged that the owner of Chatterpaul’s restaurant located at 3500 Brock Street North in Whitby, touched the victim inappropriately in the workplace. The allegations date back to 2010.

 

Investigators arrested and charged James CHATTERPAUL, age 55, of Whitby with Sexual Assault. He was released on an Undertaking.

 

Investigators want to ensure there are no further victims.
