Port Hope Panthers Drop Series Opener to Frankford

The host Port Hope Panthers were blanked 4-0 by the Frankford Huskies in the opening game of their Provincial Junior Hockey League Tod Division playoff series Wednesday night at the Jack Burger Sports Complex.
Karsten Leonard scored twice for the Huskies, one in each of the first two periods, before teammates Ben Smith and Jacob Tinney bolstered the lead early in the third. Goaltender  Hayden Candler had a 45-save shutout performance for Frankford.
Game 2 is Friday night in Port Hope at 8 p.m.
Frankfort’s roster includes Dryden Minifie, Zach Lavergne and Iain Brown of Cobourg and Ryan Turney and Tinney of Colborne.
