Quinte West OPP – Prohibited Driver Charged Following Traffic Stop (Name Released)

The Quinte West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a driver after a traffic stop.

On February 25, 2023, at approximately 2:00 a.m., A Quinte West officer was patrolling Shuter Street, when a vehicle was stopped for a traffic violation. An investigation led to the driver being arrested.

Mitchell WHITESIDE, 33 years old, from Brighton has been charged with the fo llowing offences:

  • Operate While Prohibited – Criminal Code (CC)
  • Disobey Stop Sign – Highway Traffic Act (HTA) – two counts

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville on March 23, 2023. Additionally, the vehicle was impounded for 45 days.
