Quinte West OPP – Two Charged with Impaired (Names Released)

The Quinte West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has laid charges for two separate impaired driving investigations.

On February 10, 2023, at approximately 1:00 a.m., officers responded to a traffic complaint on Panelas Crescent in Quinte West. An investigation led to the driver being arrested.

Robert, CANNIFF, 32 years old from Trenton, has been charged with operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus).

On February 12, 2023, at approximately 3:00 a.m., officers responded to a car that had struck a light pole on Old Highway 2 in Quinte West. An investigation led to the driver being arrested.

William, POVER, 26 years old from Trenton, has been charged with the following offences:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

Both of the accused were released from custody and are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville on March 2, 2023. Additionally, both had their licence suspended for 90 days and vehicle impounded for seven days.
