Northumberland OPP Investigating “Serious Incident” at Roseneath Centennial Public School

Northumberland OPP are investigating a “serious incident” that occurred at Roseneath Centennial Public School on Monday, February 6, 2023.

Roseneath Centennial Public School Principal Mary Jane Corradetti issued a statement to parents and guardians stating it was a “concerning and serious incident that happened at the school.”

Corradetti stated, “a student brought a pair of scissors onto the school yard at the beginning of the school day and, following a dispute with another student, used them to harm the student.”

“As soon as this was brought to our attention, the scissors were immediately removed from the student’s possession and action was taken to ensure the safety of students.”

“We are continuing to investigate this situation and are addressing it to ensure ongoing student safety for all,” stated Corradetti adding the injury to the student was minor.

“As part of our response, we are working with that student’s family to provide follow-up resources and support.”

Northumberland OPP Acting Sgt. Rob Simpson stated police are investigating an incident at the school, “however, we are unable to release specific details to to the ages of the involved persons.”
