Quinte West OPP – Driver Charged with Stolen Side-by-Side

The Quinte West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a driver with theft of a motor vehicle following a traffic stop in Quinte West.

On February 4, 2023, at approximately 8:00 a.m., officers were dispatched to a business on Old Highway 2 for a report of a stolen side-by-side, all-terrain vehicle (ATV). Later that day, officers located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop. The driver fled on foot onto the frozen Bay of Quinte, where he was eventually arrested.

Jonathan DAYNARD, 38 years old from Central Hastings has been charged with the following offences:

  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000
  • Theft over $5000
  • Mischief under $5000

The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville.
