Cobourg Police – Cobourg Man Charged with Fraud and Theft (No Name Released)

A Cobourg man has been arrested for theft and fraud after police investigate a report of a stolen wallet.

On November 13, 2022, police received a report where the complainant’s wallet was stolen from their car and their credit card used at multiple businesses in the Town of Cobourg.

On January 8, 2023, as a result of a police investigation, a 29-year-old Cobourg man was arrested and charged with the following offences:

1) Theft and Forgery of Credit Card contrary to section 342(1)(c) of the Criminal Code

2) Four counts – Fraud Under $5,000 contrary to section 380(1)(b) of the Criminal Code

3) Four counts – Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 contrary to section 355(b) of the Criminal Code

The accused was released on an undertaking with a court date scheduled for February 8, 2023.
