Quinte West OPP – Three Drivers Charged with Impaired Driving Over the Weekend (Names Released)

The Quinte West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged three individuals with impaired driving over the weekend.

On December 16, 2022, at approximately 8:33 p.m., Quinte West OPP responded to Hamilton Road, between Aikins Road and Wallbridge Loyalist Road to a report of a vehicle in the ditch. The driver was subsequently arrested following a roadside alcohol screening test. The accused was transported to Quinte West Detachment for further testing where their blood alcohol levels were determined to be above the legal limit.

Joshua LARUE, 26 years old from Quinte West was charged with the following offences:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus), and
  • Having care or control of a motor vehicle with liquor readily available

On December 17, 2022, at approximately 1:50 a.m., officers received information of a possible impaired driver traveling from Prince Edward County to the Quinte West area. The vehicle was located on Glen Ross Road and a traffic stop was conducted. The driver was subsequently arrested for impaired driving. The accused was transported to the Quinte West Detachment for further testing where their blood alcohol levels were determined to be above the legal limit.

Kyle MACINTYRE, 35 years old from Quinte West was charged with the followi ng offences:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Operation while prohibited under the Criminal Code
  • Driving while under suspension, and
  • Care and control of a vehicle with an unsealed bottle of liquor readily available

On December 17, 2022, at approximately 5:00 p.m., officers responded to a report of a motor vehicle collision on Sidney Street in Trenton where a van struck a snowbank, guard rail and damaged a hydro pole, then continued driving. Police located and stopped the vehicle moments later in the area of Hamilton Road and Sidney Street. The driver was arrested for impaired driving and was subsequently transported to the Quinte West Detachment for further testing where their blood alcohol levels were determined to be well above the legal limit.

Bradley MACFARLANE, 58 years old from Quinte West has been charged with the followin g offences:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Driving while suspended
  • Fail to report accident
  • Fail to remain
  • Fail to report damage to property on highway
  • Operate a motor vehicle without insurance
  • Possess unmarked cigarettes, and
  • Driving motor vehicle with liquor readily available.

All accused were released and are scheduled to appear at a later date at the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville.
