The annual Northumberland Hills Hospital Foundation gala was another great success, as the hospital board of directors heard at its December meeting from Foundation Chair Wendy Ito.

It raised $221,000, Ito reported, which includes $30,000 from the all-on-line silent auction and $23,000 from the wine-raffle baskets.

The annual Light Up A Life Christmas campaign is under way, and the Dec. 3 eighth annual Christmas tree event at the Spry Family Christmas Tree Farm in Hamilton Township will be entirely in support of this initiative to provide cardiac monitors at NHH.

Ito expressed gratitude to JJ’s Steak and Burgers for their fourth annual Christmas tree raffle that brought in $1,080.

She was also grateful to the elves who worked so hard earlier this week to decorate the Rotary Club of Cobourg courtyard at the hospital for the holidays.

I happened to be in the hospital Tuesday afternoon, and just heard the buzz of excitement in the halls,” Ito said.

It’s just such a heart-warming piece of excitement that elevates people’s spirits a little bit, and it’s very much appreciated.”

Ito finished her report with the news that, as of the end of October, they have raised $3,432,040 for NHH, which puts them well on the way to their $4,210,000 goal for this fiscal year.
