Cobourg Police – Cobourg Woman Charged, x3 Theft, x3 Possession of Stolen Property, x3 Fail to Comply (No Name Released)

A Cobourg resident has been charged with theft after being found in possession of unpaid merchandise.

On Sunday, September 25, 2022, at 1:30 p.m., police on general patrol on Elgin Street West observed an individual entering a store that they were currently on release conditions not to attend.
Police located the individual in the store possessing suspected stolen merchandise. Police investigation revealed that the items were from three separate businesses.

As a result, the 29-year-old Cobourg woman was arrested and charged with the following offences:

1. Three counts of Theft Under $5,000 contrary to section 334(b) of the Criminal Code

2. Three counts of Possession of Stolen Property Under $5,000 contrary to section 355(b) of the Criminal Code

3. Three counts of Fail to Comply with Probation contrary to section 733.1(1) of the Criminal Code

4. Fail to Comply with Release Order – other than attend court – contrary to section 145(5)(a) of the Criminal Code

The woman was held for a bail hearing scheduled for September 26, 2022.
