Northumberland OPP – Two People Killed in Plane Crash in Rural Port Hope

Members from the Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), along with Fire and Northumberland Emergency Medical Services (EMS), attended the scene of a plane crash in the vicinity of a private air strip in rural Port Hope that claimed the lives of the two occupants of the aircraft.

On August 13, 2022, at 8:51 p.m., the OPP received information that a Cherokee Piper aircraft had crashed into a field in the vicinity of a private airstrip by Kellogg Rd and Massey Rd in Port Hope. The two occupants Alvin CROSBY, age 74 of Ottawa, and Suzanne PARENT, age 72 or Ottawa, were pronounced deceased at the scene.

The OPP have since cleared the scene and Transportation Safety Board of Canada (TSB) are continuing the investigation to determine the cause of the crash.
