Cobourg Police – Cobourg Resident Facing Numerous Drug Charges and Possession of Prohibited Weapon (No Name Released)

A Cobourg resident arrested on the strength of a warrant has been charged with drug offences.

On Tuesday, June 21, 2022, at 11:35 p.m., police on general patrol observed a person riding a bike on D’Arcy Street in Cobourg wanted on an outstanding warrant with the Cobourg Police Service.

The 35-year-old Cobourg man was arrested on the strength of the warrant. During the arrest, police located a small quantity of crack cocaine, fentanyl, and cannabis. Police also found a prohibited knife. The man was charged with the following offences:

1. Improper bicycle lighting contrary to section 62(17) of the Highway Traffic Act

2. Possession of a controlled substance to whit cocaine contrary to section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act

3. Possession of a controlled substance to whit fentanyl contrary to section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act

4. Possession of illicit cannabis contrary to section 8(1)(b) of the Cannabis Act

5. Possession of a prohibited weapon contrary to section 92(2) of the Criminal Code

6. Two counts of Fail to comply with Release Order contrary to section 145(5)(a) of the Criminal Code

The man was held for a bail hearing and remanded into custody with a court date on June 24, 2022.
