Youth Riding Bicycle Collides With Pickup in Cobourg

A youth escaped serious injury after driving into the side of a pickup truck in Cobourg on Saturday, May 14, 2022.

At approximately 4:15 p.m. emergency services were called to the area of Burnham Street by Elizabeth Street for a collision involving a pickup truck and a youth on a bicycle.

The pickup truck was travelling north on Burnham Street when a eight-year-old youth riding a bicycle suddenly entered the crosswalk and struck the side of the pickup truck, just in front of the front wheel.

The youth was taken to hospital to be treated for minor injuries.

With the summer season upon us, it’s incumbent for cyclists and drivers to be aware of each other and obey the rules of the road.

Cyclists should always wear proper gear including helmets and reflective clothing.

The youth was taken to hospital with minor injuries. There were no charges to the driver of the pickup truck.
