Brighton Sailing Instructor Reaches Outstanding Achievement

In Editor Choice, Local

Local sailing instructor Andy McCabe was honoured to receive the American Sailing Association’s Outstanding Instructor of the Year award for 2021. Andy has been sailing since his teenage years and owns and operates North Shore Reaching Sailing School and sails out of Harbourview Marina in Brighton.

The Outstanding Instructor of the Year award honours the top 1% of active American Sailing Association instructors worldwide who are committed to providing excellence in sailing instruction. Andy says “I’m grateful to all my students who helped me achieve this honour. I love being able to share my passion for sailing and the cruising lifestyle. I look forward to another fantastic year of sailing, meeting new students and having new adventures.”

North Shore Reaching Sailing School is now in its fifth year of operations. Andy says his school’s success is due to the community’s support including start up assistance through Trenval, support from the Quinte West Chamber of Commerce and a good relationship with Harbourview Marina. North Shore Reaching Sailing School is one of only two schools in all of Canada offering American Sailing Association courses, which are recognized internationally.
