Update – Durham Regional Police – Fatal Vehicle Rollover

On Sunday October 24, 2021 at approximately 12:40 a.m., officers from North Division were dispatched to a serious motor vehicle collision involving a rolled over pickup truck on Sideline Rd 18 near Brock Concession Road 9 in Brock Township.  A grey 2006 Chevrolet Sierra pickup truck was southbound on Sideline Road 18 when it lost control, left the roadway and rolled into a ditch.  The vehicle had seven teenaged occupants onboard and was driven by a 16-year old female from Sunderland.  Six of the occupants were ejected during the rollover and seriously injured.

 

One of the occupants, a 15-year old male from Sunderland was fatally injured as a result of the collision.

 

The remaining six occupants, all ages 15 to 17, were all transported to Toronto-based trauma centers and are now recovering from their injuries.

 

On Friday April 1, 2022, the driver, a 17-year-old female from Durham Region, was charged with Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle Causing Death, along with five counts of Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle Causing Bodily Harm.

Fatal Vehicle Rollover

 

A 15-year-old Sunderland teen was fatally injured after a pickup truck he was riding in lost control and left the roadway on Sideline Road 18 near Brock Concession Road 9 in the Township of Brock.

 

On Sunday, October 24, 2021 at approximately 12:40 a.m., officers from North Division were dispatched to a serious motor vehicle collision involving a rolled over pickup truck on Sideline Rd 18 near Brock Concession Road 9 in Brock Township. A grey 2006 Chevrolet Sierra pickup truck was southbound on Sideline Road 18 when it lost control, left the roadway and rolled into a ditch. The remaining six occupants, all ages 15 to 17, were transported to local hospitals and later air-lifted to Toronto based trauma centers. Two are currently listed in critical condition, the other four are now listed in serious but stable condition.

 

Members of the DRPS Traffic Services Branch – Collision Investigation Unit, attended the scene to conduct an investigation. The area of the roadway was closed for several hours while evidence was collected.
