Breaking News – “Miracle” Driver Wasn’t Killed After Transports Collide on Highway 401

In Editor Choice, Local

One firefighter said it was a miracle the driver of a transport wasn’t killed after his big rig rear-ended another on Highway 401 at Colborne on Friday, April 1, 2022.

At approximately 5:45 a.m. emergency services responded to Highway 401 eastbound just west of Colborne for a motor-vehicle collision.

A transport which had broken down on the highway was being towed by a heavy tow-truck and was just merging onto the highway from the shoulder when another transport rear-ender the trailer being towed.

Debris littered the highway from the collision, but all the vehicles managed to pull over to the shoulder as much as possible.

The roof of the cab of that struck the transport was ripped off and was just resting on what was left of the cab.

One veteran firefighter said it was a miracle the driver wasn’t killed in the collision when the roof was ripped off.

All occupants of the vehicles weren’t injured.

The investigation is continuing.
