Cobourg Police – Cobourg Man Charged with Theft (No Name Released)

A Cobourg man has been charged with theft after police received a report of shoplifting.

On Friday, March 18, 2022, at 1:45 p.m., police responded to a report of shoplifting at a store downtown Cobourg. Staff reported that a man selected items and left the store without paying for the merchandise.

Through investigation, police were able to identify the man and locate him a short time later in the downtown core.

As a result, the 26-year-old Cobourg man was arrested. Police located the stolen items, and the man was charged with the following offences:

1. Theft Under $5,000, contrary to Section 334(b) of the Criminal Code

2. Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000, contrary to Section 355(b) of the Criminal Code

The man was released on an undertaking and a Court date of May 18, 2022.
