Cobourg’s Public Works Division reminds residents that the Downtown Cobourg snow clean-up that began Tuesday evening is expected to continue Friday, Jan. 21, beginning at midnight to take in such areas as benches, bollards, parking metres and litter containers.

We truly appreciate the patience and understanding of our residents while our crews continue to work tirelessly to remove the incredible amount of snowfall received during Monday’s storm and the additional snow yesterday morning,” Director of Public Works Laurie Wills said in the announcement.

In just two days, our staff have worked over 300 cumulative hours. Please note that we are working as efficiently and quickly as we can, and all we ask is for your continued patience and understanding.”

The Public Works also reminds the community that requests for additional snow removal may not be within the scope of service. Examples of such requests include cleaning of residential driveways where snowplows have created snowbanks, as well as the clearing of all sidewalks and snowbanks across the municipality.

The town also reminds everyone of the importance of the Winter Parking Bylaw as snow-removal operations continue, providing for any cars left on designated streets between 2 a.m. and 7 a.m. to be ticketed or towed.

Starting at midnight Friday, snow removal will take place on a number of streets, including Division Street (from Covert Street to the Esplanade), Second Street, Third Street (from King Street to Albert Street), Albert Street (from Third Street to Queen Street), Queen Street (from Division Street to McGill Street), McGill Street (from King Street to Queen Street) and George Street (from Orange Street to King Street).

Anyone with questions or concerns can contact the Public Works Division at 905-372-9971.
