Tractor Trailer Goes Up In Flames on Highway 401 West of Colborne

The driver of a tractor trailer wasn’t injured after his big rig caught fire early Wednesday morning on Highway 401.

At approximately 4:15 a.m. on January 19, 2022, Cramahe Township Fire Department responded to the tractor trailer fire on the westbound lanes of Highway 401 approximately two kilometres east of Grafton.

When fire crews arrived on scene, the entire cab was engulfed in flames and spreading to the trailer.

Alnwick/Haldimand Township was dispatched to help extinguish the fire.

The westbound lanes of Highway 401 were shut down by members of Northumberland OPP until the fire was extinguished.

No word on damage estimate or cause.
