Walk-In Booster Clinic in Port Hope Attracts Hundreds of People

A Walk-In Booster Clinic held on Tuesday, December 21, 2021 in Port Hope attracted hundreds of people.

Dr. Kate Everdell and Dr. Fraser Cameron hosted the clinic at the Port Hope Lions Centre on Thomas Street from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. but people started lining up at noon.

Hitarth Shah was the first person in line.

On Monday Shah was at Newcastle for a clinic and waited in line for three hours only to be told they had run out of the 300 tickets for the vaccine.

“We heard about this on a Facebook group that’s when we decided to come over here.”

Waiting since noon, Shah had no complaints as he waited for the doors to open.

“I’m feel happy to get it. At least I don’t have to wait for a long time.”

The afternoon started off to be nice weather, but towards the end of the afternoon there started to be a chill in the air.

The line of people stretched nearly a kilometer long down Ross Street to Pine Street South and nearly to Walton Street.

MPP David Piccini was one of the people who waited in-line for approximately four hours, but was happy  to receive the booster vaccine.

Once inside, volunteers were at each table welcoming people and making them feel comfortable during the time inside.

All 600 Pfizer vaccines were used by the end of the evening.
