A Constable with the Cobourg Police Service (CPS) has been charged under the Police Services Act following an external investigation into allegations of misconduct following an incident
that took place while the officer was on secondment at the Ontario Police College (OPC) in June 2021.
The member was released from their contract at OPC, and CPS requested that the Toronto Police Service investigate the allegations. As a result of the investigation, Constable David Periard has been charged with the following:
• Two counts of discreditable conduct
Constable Periard is scheduled to appear at an electronic virtual hearing on December 16, 2021.
“Collectively, we hold ourselves and our members to a high standard, and we strive to provide exemplary service to the community. Any allegation against one of our members is taken very seriously, and within regulatory restrictions, we remain transparent on any officer discipline issues. We are grateful for the assistance of the Toronto Police Service and their investigation into this incident,” said Chief Paul VandeGraaf, Cobourg Police Service.
Constable Periard will return to work in an administrative role.
