Minimal Damage After Fire at Trinity College School in Port Hope

Port Hope Fire and Emergency Services quickly extinguished a fire at Trinity College School on Thursday, October 28, 2021.

Firefighters were dispatched at approximately 4:45 p.m. to reports of a fire in a bathroom on the second floor of Bickle House (residence).

When fire crews arrived smoke was coming from the windows of second floor bathroom.

Wearing breathing apparatus firefighters quickly entered the building and extinguished the fire.

Firefighters believe the fire started from an appliance in the bathroom.

Deputy Chief Jeff Ogden said there was minimal damage in the washroom along with some smoke damage.

There was the smell of smoke in the hallway, but firefighters ventilated the area before leaving the scene.

Ogden said the detection system worked as it should and praised the school for evacuating quickly and safely.
