Colborne Santa Claus Parade Cancelled

In Local

The Colborne Santa Claus Parade is officially cancelled.

Organizer Tracey Loveless from the Legion Branch 187 which spearheads the parade broke the news to Today’s Northumberland on Thursday afternoon. (October 14, 2021)

“We found out today that we cannot have it due to the COVID restrictions in the province and in our area,” said Loveless on the main street of Colborne.

Loveless said she’s been organizing the parade for 16 years and enjoys the parade immensely.

“This is my baby and I love doing it every year.”

But the good news is Santa will be going up and down the streets of Colborne and Castleton for families.

There will be more information provided.

The unfortunate part was, the Legion had sent out donation letters for the parade and she was getting calls on floats for the parade.

“We were heavy into it.”

After speaking with Cramahe Township Mayor Mandy Martin, they both agreed it would likely be the best and safest thing for the community.

“I would feel extremely sad if something happened and somebody got sick from an event I coordinated.”

“What can we do?”

“We have to follow the rules of the road and go with the flow.”

But Loveless says she’ll be so excited to organize next years parade.
