NHH Foundation Aces Fundraising Challenges

In Local

Though a second year is on the horizon where the Northumberland Hills Hospital Foundation cannot have its annual gala, this is the second year where organizers have outdone themselves in organizing a substitute fundraiser.

Foundation Vice-Chair Wendy Ito was pleased to unveil the Galalicious on Nov. 6. Ten restaurants throughout Northumberland County – so far – are participating and tickets are now on sale. There is also a raffle in support of the event, Ito said, “and a silent auction like no others.”

Information is up on the foundation website, Ito said.

Soon to come is the launch of the annual Light Up A Life campaign in early November. Last year’s was the most successful ever, raising $273,000.

Another returning popular event is Brian and Sharron Wharram Spry’s annual Christmas tree fundraiser.

“Bring your loved ones, enjoy a hot chocolate, have a snack, have a visit with Santa and get your picture taken and, of course, choose and cut your perfect Christmas tree,” Ito said.

This event raised $28,000 last year, and every penny raised is always donated back to the foundation.

Ito ended her report with more good news. With half the fiscal year gone, they have already raised $2.5-million of the $3.5-million they pledged.
