Breaking News – Port Hope Man in Critical Condition After Falling From Railway Bridge and Struck By Vehicle

A Port Hope man has been airlifted to a Toronto trauma centre with life threatening injuries following an incident in Port Hope on Wednesday, September 15, 2021.

At approximately 2:40 p.m. emergency services were dispatched to the area of Mill Street and Peter Street for a person that was struck by a vehicle.

Speaking to Today’s Northumberland at the scene, Port Hope Police Chief Bryant Wood said, “a young person fell or (left) the railway above and was struck by a car.”

The two individuals in the vehicle were travelling on Peter Street and merging onto Mill Street heading north when the collision occurred.

The vehicle immediately pulled over only to discover what had happened.

The couple was shaken from the incident, but uninjured.

The Ontario Provincial Police Technical Collision Investigators will be attending the scene and the area of the collision will be closed for most of the evening.
