Northumberland OPP – Five People Arrested at Illegal Cannabis Production Operation

(ALNWICK HALDIMAND, ON) – On Friday September 10, 2021 members of the Ontario Provincial Police Provincial Joint Forces Cannabis Enforcement Team (PJFCET), Northumberland and Peterborough Community Street Crime Units (CSCU) in conjunction with the Central region Emergency Response Team, executed a Cannabis Act Warrant on Telephone Rd, in Alnwick Haldimand Township.

Investigators seized the following items:

· $8200 dollars in cash
· 6281 cannabis plants valued at 6.2 million dollars
· 6617 cannabis clones worth a potential street value of 6.6 million dollars
· 4815 pounds of cannabis bud worth a potential street value of 21.8 million dollars
· 2200 pounds of cannabis shake worth a potential street value of $498 300 dollars
· A 2021 Ford F150 pickup truck
· A Case skid steer

As a result of the investigation, police arrested and charged five individuals:

Abdul MIAN (age 78) of Alnwick Haldimand
· Possession of cannabis for the purpose of distribution – Cannabis Act 9(2)
· Cultivate illicit cannabis – Cannabis Act 12(4)(a)

Asif MIAN (age 27) of Alnwick Haldimand
· Possession of cannabis for the purpose of distribution – Cannabis Act 9(2)
· Cultivate illicit cannabis – Cannabis Act 12(4)(a)

Gian SUN (age 32) of Scarborough
· Possession of cannabis for the purpose of distribution – Cannabis Act 9(2)
· Cultivate illicit cannabis – Cannabis Act 12(4)(a)

Chuang ZHANG (age 24) of Scarborough
· Possession of cannabis for the purpose of distribution – Cannabis Act 9(2)
· Cultivate illicit cannabis – Cannabis Act 12(4)(a)

Bao FENG (age 51) of York
· Possession of cannabis for the purpose of distribution – Cannabis Act 9(2)
· Cultivate illicit cannabis – Cannabis Act 12(4)(a)

The accused parties were charged and released and are scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice on October 20th, 2021, in the Town of Cobourg.
