Homes Evacuated Following Natural Gas Leak in Cobourg

Emergency services were called the west end of Cobourg after a natural gas line ruptured on Friday, August 27, 2021

.At approximately 10 a.m. emergency services were dispatched to the area of New Amherst Blvd and John Fairhurst Blvd.

Construction crews were working in the area and severed a natural gas line.

Approximately 12 homes were evacuated along with a number of construction workers in the area.

Police cordoned off the area while Enbridge crews waited for specialized machinery to arrive to help “cap” the ruptured line.

At approximately 1:30 p.m. Enbridge crews capped the ruptured line and emergency crews cleared the scene soon after.
