Durham Regional Police – Teacher Charged with Historic Sexual Assault

A 43-year-old Oshawa male has been charged with a historical sex assault on a student.  

On Thursday, August 19, 2021, investigators from the Special Victims Unit arrested a high school teacher after allegations were made by a former student. The suspect is a teacher at Notre Dame Catholic Secondary School located on Harwood Avenue North in Ajax. The alleged assault took place in June 2009. 

Diego NAJERA-CORTEZ, age 43, of Ritson Road in Oshawa is charged with Sexual Assault. He was released on an Undertaking.

Investigators want to ensure there are no other victims.
