The Quinte West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged four individuals following a controlled drugs and substances act investigation.
On June 10, 2021 at approximately 6:00 a.m., the OPP Community Street Crime Units (CSCU) of Quinte West, Central Hastings, and Prince Edward County assisted by the OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT), OPP Canine Unit and the OPP Tactics and Rescue Unit (TRU) executed two search warrants at residences on Whites Road in Quinte West. A quantity of suspected MDMA (Ecstasy), cocaine, hydromorphone and Oxycodone pills along with drug paraphernalia, Canadian currency and a 9mm handgun were seized. As a result, four people were arrested.
Richard CASSELMAN, 58, Sharon CASSELMAN, 54, Katie CASSELMAN, 20 and Tracey THEODORE, 18 years old, all from Quinte West have been charged with the following offences:
Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking: cocaine, hydromorphone, MDMA and oxycodone – Four counts total
Careless storage of a firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition;
Unauthorized possession of a weapon; and
Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime over $5000.
Additionally, Richard CASSELMAN has been charged with possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to a prohibition order. Katie CASSELMAN has been charged with two counts of failing to comply with a probation order, and THEODORE has been charged with failing to comply with a release order.
Richard and Sharon CASSELMAN were released on undertakings and are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville on July 12, 2021. Both other accused were held for bail and were scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on June 10, 2021.
