Downtown Cobourg’s Paddle to the “C” – a Self-Guided Art Tour

In Upcoming Events

On June 23rd, over 40 small paddle boards (9” x 24”), painted by local artists and community members, will be displayed in Downtown Cobourg storefront windows. Based on the award-winning children’s book Paddle-to-the-Sea by Holling C.

Holling and the subsequent 1966 NFB film by the legendary Bill Mason, this community art project celebrates Cobourg’s deep connection to Lake Ontario and the town’s resilience during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Cobourg woodworker Glenn Boniface of Bonfire Creation made the paddleboards, and local artists worked hard over the spring designing their art pieces.

The self-guided walking tour will launch on June 23rd, and paddleboards will be on display for the duration of the summer months. The boards will continue to be available for purchase at the end of the exhibit, with a portion of the proceeds going back to the participating artist.
