In Local

Liberals in Northumberland—Peterborough South have nominated Jeff Kawzenuk, a retired school principal and community leader, as their Ontario Liberal Party (OLP) candidate for the next provincial election.

“I want to begin by thanking you for your support and vote. I am proud to represent all of you,” said Jeff Kawzenuk. “I also wish to thank my campaign team – they were amazing. We were a gang of volunteers who worked non-stop,
and I cannot begin to thank them enough.”

As a proud educator for more than 35 years, Jeff Kawzenuk has worked throughout Northumberland County as a teacher and as a principal. Before retiring in July of 2020, he worked at high schools across the Northumberland—
Peterborough South riding including Cobourg Collegiate Institute, Brookside Youth Centre, East Northumberland Secondary School, CDCI West, Port Hope High School and CDCI East.

Jeff is a community builder who has demonstrated his commitment to families throughout the riding by coaching thousands of young athletes, fundraising for numerous causes and championing a more inclusive society.
He has been a tireless supporter of those in need both locally and around the globe. Jeff co-founded the Journey of Hope and since 2008, accompanied hundreds of students to Africa and helped raise more than $250,000 towards
numerous projects.

Jeff is a dedicated volunteer and leader for many causes and organizations. He was the Founder and Director of the June Leadership Program at the Ontario Educational Leadership Centre and the Founder of the Kawartha Wrestling Club.

He led the fundraising and implementation of the ENSS Community Track and 2 Sports Field and has actively supported local food banks. Twice a month, for twenty years, Jeff filled his truck with food from the Kawartha Food Share in Peterborough and supplemented breakfast programs at local schools.

The Kawzenuks have lived in Colborne for over 36 years. Jeff and Maureen are the proud parents of Jesse, Jaime and Jenna, all graduates of local high schools and Ontario universities. Jeff is a part-time landscaper, an avid downhill skier, and a sports enthusiast who loves spending time with his cherished family and friends.

“It’s time to move forward with an MPP who puts the unique interests of Northumberland—Peterborough South first,” said Jeff Kawzenuk. “During the recovery of COVID-19, there will be many decisions and changes to be made.
We need a post-pandemic plan that builds the future for our community.”
