Highway of Heroes Act of Remembrance in Port Hope

In Community, Editor Choice, Local

Members of the Highway of Heroes Family gathered at the Port Hope cenotaph on Friday, June 4, 2021 as an act of remembrance for a soldier.

Craftsman Kyle Sinclair (age 27) was killed on November 21, 2014 while working alone on a Coyote armoured vehicle at CFB Petawawa.

Sinclair’s mother, Anna Loveman lives in Port Hope and has been instrumental in cleaning the Highway of Heroes twice a year with other volunteers.

Kerri Tadeu who adopted the entire section of the Highway of Heroes from Trenton to Toronto several years ago has organized multiple Acts of Remembrance each year.

Tadeu worked with Amanda Miller, the Administrative Assistant to Parks, Recreation and Culture at the Municipality of Port Hope to have a stone/brick installed at the Port Hope Cenotaph in Memorial Park to acknowledge Sinclair’s service to Canada.

Sinclair’s stone was installed at the cenotaph earlier this week and on Friday, Loveman and her husband John took a walk to see the stone when they were met by members of the Highway of Heroes Family and Port Hope Deputy Mayor Les Andrews for the brief ceremony.

Loveman said her son was a humble person but added he would be thrilled that he is being remembered.

“The people that I’ve met have been nothing but supportive,” Loveman said about her HOH Family.

“They have really been there for me and cleaning the highway has helped bring us all together.”
