Another Successful Saturday at the Cobourg Farmers’ Market

In Community, Local

It was another successful Saturday, May 22, 2021 at the Cobourg Farmers’ Market as people came out to support the vendors.

There were a few changes at the market from previous weeks including no live music which included no dancing and no non-essential vendors.

The market was also keeping track on the number of people coming and going from the market which was taped off to control the number of people attending.

Northumberland-Peterborough South MPP David Piccini attended with his girlfriend Faith.

“They’re doing a great job. I was chatting with the team here and they’ve done a great job organizing things and there is a nice flow-through. We’re excited to be here getting local bread and local produce.”

“It’s really nice to see so many people outside safely enjoying themselves.”

The framework the province announced recently provided predictability Piccini said.

“People want their lives back. They want to move beyond COVID. They want to see a plan for reopening.”

With the numbers of COVID cases starting to drop, “we’re that much closer to getting our lives back. Especially with everyone getting vaccinated.”

The catch phrase “we’re all in this together” has been repeated many times, but Piccini said that’s not the case entirely.

“This hasn’t be equitably felt by everyone and I’m aware of that. Small businesses have been hit hard. I think the best thing for everybody is to get open and get this province going – engine of the Canadian economy and do so safely.”
