Hamilton Township Votes Unanimously To Close Fishing From Municipal Property – For Now

In Community, Local

There will be no fishing from the three parks in Hamilton Township starting on Friday, April 23, 2021.

At their regular council meeting on April 20, 2021, Council voted unanimously that fishing from the municipal property/parks of Gores Landing, Harwood and Bewdley that border Rice Lake will cease starting at 12:01 a.m..

The reason for the closure is to detract people from gathering due to COVID-19. The decision will be reassessed on May 18.

The majority of activity in the parks is the fishing so by eliminating the fishing we will eliminate any gathering or crowds within those areas,” said Manager of Parks and Facilities Trevor Clapperton.

Today’s Northumberland will have a more in-depth story shortly.
